Stress Free Planning

Wedding Day:

OMG it’s finally time for all of this hard work to pay off!  I made this checklist and reminders, based on my wedding experiences since becoming an artist (over 250 weddings ago ;)) Let me help you on how you can set yourself and your party up for success – and most importantly, a stress-free day!

Make sure you’ve taken any recommendations from the trial. This can include buying your lip color for endless touch-ups (and such a sweet color for date nights!), getting a hydrafacial or dermaplaning, purchasing extensions, etc.

15 to 30 days out

from your wedding

24 to 48 hours out

01.

• You don’t want to ruin your makeup or hair by adding 300% humidity to the getting ready space on the day of
• If you are steaming, ensure it is away from the getting ready/hang out area, in a well-ventilated room

Ensure all steaming is done!

02.

Highly recommended to get a blowout for your rehearsal dinner! If doing this option, no need to wash your hair again before styling!

Wash hair the night before styling similar to the trial or sooner than (whichever was decided with your artist).

03.

•Give yourself 20 minutes of flexibility between our end time and picture taking. You never know who could be running late, not feeling well or needing extra time.

Ensure the photographer knows when H&MU will be done.

04.

We’ve had to start wedding 20-30 minutes late because of someone not wanting to go first... this often translates to finishing 20-30 minutes later than your original end time. Plan on one person nominated per artist on your wedding morning.

Nominate the first girlies to get their hair and makeup done first.

check list

Make sure the artists are settled before claiming table space. We may need a extra room for our kits!

Ensure you have good, natural lighting for the makeup artist(s)

Ensure the first few girls know who is going first for hair and/or makeup

A clean table or designated area for the artist to work at:
* Clear table tops, outlets nearby, tall chairs/barstools, low back chairs*

Double check the steaming is done asap, especially before the bride’s services

Have your details box ready to go and set aside for the photographer

Plan on yourself (the bride) going second or third to last
* This helps you wrap up any final details without being tied to the chair!*

Last little tips for the smoothest wedding morning

Xo, Cat

Cheers, girly!

Don’t make a schedule with the list of names. I definitely love this for the idea of early, middle, end of services, but it is pretty difficult to keep up with these schedules when it’s name by name order. Sometimes we even base it on styles everyone would like (updo vs down) and type of glam (soft vs full). But having the first one to two girlies break the ice is a tremendous help! Plus, we stick around for touch ups once we’re done!

For bridesmaid and family getting makeup done, it is highly recommended to BYOL (Bring Your Own Lipstick)! There may not always be lip samples from your artist, but having a basic nude, pink, or red, etc. will allow you to touch up as you please!

Have an emergency kit! In mine, I'd pack blush, lipstick, chapstick, blotting sheets, deodorant, a little sewing kit (with correct colors), bobby pins, 1 in curling iron, mouthwash, floss sticks, Excedrin, Tums, Benadryl, Tide To Go sticks, lint roller, band aids, tissues, and q-tips. You never know you’ll need, but remove any anxiety from the wedding day by being prepared for everything you could think of.

Lastly, don’t hesitate to reach out to your planner, vendors, or venue ahead of your big day! If you have a question pleeease ask it. We do this for a living, most clients do it for a day. We’ve got your back and are so SO excited for you!
